Who we are?

 

The Cyprus Studies Center was established by the Eastern Mediterranean University in 1995 to encourage academic research on Cyprus' history, cultural heritage, socio-political and environmental issues.

The center main research areas of interest are archeology, anthropology, architecture, history, art, art history, linguistics, literature, music, law, economics, social science, folklore, gender studies, philology, psychology, political sciences, international relations and environmental problems.

The center organizes International Congress of Cyprus Studies and a national symposium-themed of Turkish Cypriots who left a mark with the aim of presenting new information in the field of biography and social history, and publishes the presented papers in a book form. In addition, since 1995, it has been publishing scientific and original researches within the scope of a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, and bilingual (English and Turkish) international periodical journal called the Journal of Cyprus Studies, published biannually.

The Cyprus Research Center also publishes research, biographies, and literary works related to Cyprus. Another function of the Cyprus Research Center is to carry out projects in partnership with other institutions, especially to protect the cultural heritage of the island.

Cyprus Studies Center also organizes conferences exhibitions, develops projects in cooperation with other institutions, and hosts academics and artists from abroad. In addition to these, the center creates special collections, develops a documentation center, and carries out the tasks of contributing to the Eastern Mediterranean University Library to collect publications related to Cyprus.
